It is the time of the year when the board exam result are approaching along with various other competitive exams result around the corner. The children mainly crumble during this phase under peer pressure of parents along with ever increasing level of competition which tends to rise the alarm bells on growing number of suicide committed by the students. The alarming suicide rate raises an issue regarding What are the fault lines along with the reforms required on the education grant?
On March 4 on a recent event occurred in Kota district of Rajasthan where a student from a 12th class committed suicide by hanging himself on a ceiling fan. Later the Police inquired the reason for the suicide and found the suicide note containing the main reasons for the suicide was the exam stress as the student failed in test conducted at the coaching center. There are many such incident where the students commits suicide due to exam stress. In 2016 alone more then 60 suicides were being reported in Kota itself.
The major question is
"WHY THE STUDENTS ARE UNDER THE STRESS?"
FEAR FACTOR: Psychiatrists say a rising number of students suffer from traumatic disorders related to the fear of examinations.
LACK OF COUNSELLING: 40% students feel they are overwhelmed by examination and want guidance.
THE PARENT TRAP: Not just schools but parents also go to extreme levels to force their children into pushing up their graduation.
"We have to find a way out to deal with this problem"
"We have to find a way out to deal with this problem"
1. Students should be given freedom to choose their career and parents must not force them to select a particular stream.
2.The students must understand that a single failure is not just the end of life "theirs is always a second chance".
3. The parents must understand that every child is born with a distinct quality and must not be compared with other children.
4.The parents must support their child during the time they found that the child is under stress.
and most importantly the education system should be changed and the joy of learning education system should be brought back.

ReplyDeleteCertainly we need reforms in our education system and students must motivate themselves as(they) "I can do better ahead in life"
ReplyDeleteN there is always a second chance suicide is not the only option left
DeleteSuicide typically underlies the lack of will power of teens. Every parent needs to rely on the fact that each child is blessed with a unique caliber which shall be respected.Though.. unsatisfication of the candidate as well his peers add up to the diminish the self confidence of the candidate leading to such dusgusting acts.

ReplyDeleteYea everybody is not equally talented everyone is born with a unique quality and this should be understood and child should b pressurized for any thing.let him b free to make their decision and parents must support them completely
ReplyDeleteVery gd point has been added in this article as we knw that children r NT getting an environment where they can feel free to share the thngs nd this cause such prblms resulting to suicide children needs pampering frm their parents ND acquaintances so that they can feel free to talk nd their is need of such positive involvement at homes..
ReplyDeleteTruely said a healthy environment at home adds to a lot of support to the children where they are free to share thrie problems with parents and could help in stopping the child attempting suicides
